The Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools community has joined together to raise more than £70,000 in memory of a caring and considerate teenage boy. Tom was a pupil at Monmouth School for Boys and his unexpected death in June 2018, aged just 13, has been felt by the whole community.
More than 650 swimmers took the plunge in a 12-hour swimathon, called Swim for Tom.

Students from the town’s three secondary schools – Monmouth Comprehensive School, Monmouth School for Boys, and Monmouth School for Girls – united on stage after progressing from the qualifying rounds for a special celebration of music.
The evening raised around £1,000 for Cancer Research Wales in memory of Monmouth School for Boys’ pupil Tom Walker, who died last year from leukaemia.

Haberdashers’ Adams has announced that from September 2019 nearly half of its intake is likely to be from pupils living within just a few miles of the school. When Headmaster Gary Hickey took over in 2015 one of his priorities was to take the school back to its roots.
