Friends of a pupil at Monmouth School for Boys have raised more than £4,300 for a hospital children’s ward.

Last week, a team from the Haberdashers' Monmouth Schools represented Wales in the UK final of Young Enterprise UK Company of the Year, for their Bumble wraps, a natural alternative to single-use plastics. They are now selling DIY cotton and beeswax wraps online: beefreshwithbumbles.co.uk. Many congratulations to all involved for a great achievement.

Pupils at Haberdashers' Adams enjoyed a surprise visit from former Blue Peter presenter Radzi Chinyanganya, who turned up at their school assembly.

 

Radzi, a former pupil at Haberdashers’ Adams in Newport, launched the school’s campaign to find 15 pupils to take part in the Lord Mayor’s Show in London in November.

Staff, project partners and guests came together to celebrate the opening of Borough Academy’s temporary site with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception on Wednesday 3rd September.

The family of Monmouth pupil Tom Walker, who died of leukaemia last year aged 13, are thanking people from the “bottom of our hearts” after a major £100,000 appeal fund in his memory was smashed in less than a year.

More than 650 swimmers took the plunge in a 12-hour swimathon, called Swim for Tom.
