The Christmas Camp at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools, for overseas students who could not travel home during the holidays, has been a huge success.

 

Although they couldn't spend time with their families, the boys and girls had a great time at the camp, run by Connexcel Ltd.

Despite being based on the same 100 acre site in Elstree for more than 40 years, Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls and The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School have previously operated largely as separate entities.

A teacher at Haberdashers' Adams won the million pound jackpot on ITV's Who Wants to be a Millionaire, which aired in September 2020.

 

Donald Fear, 57, who teaches history and politics, won, appropriately, with a history question: 'In 1718, which pirate died in battle off the coast of what is now North Carolina?"

The options were Calico Jack, Blackbeard, Bartholomew Roberts, and Captain Kidd. The winning answer was Blackbeard.

Twelve cricketers at the Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools have been selected to represent Wales this summer.

 

Sixth Form student Harry continued his impressive start to the season with his inclusion in a two-day training match with Glamorgan this week. He played with all the senior professionals at Glamorgan under the eye of the professional county’s head coach, Matthew Maynard.

Friends of a pupil at Monmouth School for Boys have raised more than £4,300 for a hospital children’s ward.

Last week, a team from the Haberdashers' Monmouth Schools represented Wales in the UK final of Young Enterprise UK Company of the Year, for their Bumble wraps, a natural alternative to single-use plastics.
