The Chief Economist set the following question, which was forwarded to Haberdashers’ Schools’ Year 12 A level students of Economics or Business Studies. The level of interest rates are too low in the US. As the economy reopens it will suffer with high inflation and the Federal Reserve will be forced to raise interest rates to bring demand down. Discuss 12 students from across the Haberdasher family of schools took part and submitted essays, and five students were shortlisted for the prize-giving award ceremony. The winner and runners-up are as follows: 1st place – Xinchen Zhou, Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls 2nd place – Arman Somani, Haberdashers’ Boys’ School 3rd place – Alfie Wynter, Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Boys Runners up – Jathusa Mahendran, Haberdashers’ Crayford Academy and Thomas Phillips, Haberdashers’ Adams. |
