Habs Old Girl in Women of the Future Awards

Congratulations to former Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls pupil, Dr Mala Mawkin, who received the award of Highly Commended finalist at the Women of the Future Awards, in November 2019.

Her particular area of interest is health innovations and eHealth data and she was awarded a Thomas Arno Fund award in early 2019 toward her medical elective examining  the extremes of progress in eHealth around the world. She joined the eHealth Malawi team to see the on-the-ground work they are doing in one of the poorest countries and then joined the Harvard Health Map team to see how state of the art computational epidemiology and digital health is progressing the field. Dr Mawkin is returning to Malawi in May for 3 weeks in 2020 armed with nine students from Imperial College London - and a minibus - with the aim of helping the local researchers and students have the tools they need to conduct their health research.  We wish her the best for the project and congratulate her on the being a finalist in the Women of the Future Awards.
