Twelve Ukrainian students have joined a Haberdasher school, or will do so at the start of the new academic year. With support ranging from uniforms to tuition fees, the Haberdasher family has stepped up to meet the needs of these young Ukrainians at this extremely challenging time.
Haberdashers’ Academies Trust South, Haberdashers’ Adams, Haberdashers’ Monmouth and Haberdashers’ Boys and Girls schools at Elstree have all extended a warm welcome to twelve Ukrainian students. Ten of the students have joined secondary schools and two are in a primary. Schools have delivered induction programmes, matching students with current pupils to help them find their feet. Laptops have been sourced, with English tutoring taking place in some cases.
The Company has provided financial support of £8,000 for the Adams student which will help cover some of his boarding fees. The school communities have also got involved, providing uniforms for the students and food parcels for their families.
Thanks to the generosity of the schools and their communities, the Company and the wider Haberdasher family has made a lasting difference to the lives of these young refugees.
