Tom CrossHaberdashers' AdamsLast year Tom completed a Masters in Aeronautical Engineering at the Department of Aeronautics, Imperial College London under a Haberdashers’ AkzoNobel science scholarship. During his four years in South Kensington, he was editor of the Engineering Students’ Unions magazine ‘Guildsheet’, later serving as Union President as well as the President of the Imperial Conservative Society. Achieving first class honours, his Master’s thesis explored optimising supersonic biplanes which hold a unique potential for reigniting high-speed passenger air travel. |
After graduating he remained at Imperial briefly, developing a small-scale supersonic wind tunnel for delivering lecture demonstrations in Mechanical Engineering. A Member of Wolfson College, Tom is currently a Research Student in Future Power & Propulsion (Gas Turbine Aerodynamics) at Cambridge, focusing on upcoming issues in Turbomachinery, the decarbonisation of flight and industrial power generation. He is due to start the Doctoral stage of his course at Oxford in 2022. |
