Habs Elstree raise £190,000 to help students in financial need

Haberdashers’ Elstree Schools raised £190,000 during their 36-hour annual giving day in April.

The aim was to raise funds for the bursary and hardship schemes, which provide funding support to young people within the local community who would thrive at Haberdashers’ but may be denied the opportunity due to financial barriers.

This year’s Haberdashers’ Giving Day focused specifically on helping current students at risk of having to leave the schools due to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and other financial pressures.

Almost 1,500 members of the school community participated in various fundraising activities and 374 donations were received during the event.

Bill Friar, director of development at Haberdashers’ Elstree Schools, said: “It was heart-warming to see so many members of the Habs community on campus to celebrate the day and raise funds for Habs families experiencing financial hardship. It was the very definition of ‘philanthropy’ in the truest sense.

“We would like to thank our entire community again for the part they each played in making the fourth Habs Giving Day a success.”
