SET Hosier Lane covers 3,000 square ft of workspace provided in the Haberdashers’ offices, one of the City’s livery companies. It ran from December 2024 – October 2025 and was priced as some of most affordable artists’ studios in London.
The Haberdashers’ Company will be converting the old office site at 25 Hosier Lane from December 2025. Ahead of this conversion, the vacant spot was taken up by SET to use as affordable artist space.
SET had 14 artists using the space, some of whom are former SET alumni who had moved over from our now closed centre in Kensington, along with the majority who were new SET Associate Members.
Amongst these eleven studios, four were shared. The studios included a range of art practices. These practices ranged from: painting, set design, graphic design, drawing and photography.
For eight months they had 100% capacity in the space demonstrating the ongoing desire and need for affordable artists’ studios.
Additionally, Associate Members at SET Hosier Lane were part of our newer network of SET centres based in the City of London. Hosier Lane joined their ‘SET in the City’ network of 6 studio spaces, along with our new SET Ceramics centre.
Partnerships such as these – utilising temporarily vacant spaces – is a key way to support the arts in London. The opportunity to have studios in the heart of London was invaluable as they have been able to keep artist communities in the centre of the city at a time when London when is increasingly unaffordable to artists.
