A very special contribution

The Company celebrates our students in a variety of ways, but last week we recognised the contribution of some very special young people: the Queen Elizabeth II Citizenship Awardees.

Established in 2024, this award seeks to recognise the contribution of students who give back to their schools and wider community through the characteristics of the late Queen: tolerance, kindness, selfless service, loyalty, integrity and respect.

These are largely students whose achievements go largely unnoticed and unacknowledged, and whose actions benefit others.

The 2026 QEII Citizenship awardees came to the Hall in July to meet the Prime Warden and Wardens. They were thanked for the work they undertake in their schools and communities. All had chosen a charity that would benefit from a small award of £250 each.

Hatcham College student Sacha chose the charity Kinetika Bloco for the amazing work they do to provide an array of musical opportunities to young people in South London, with a particular focus in brass, drums, steel pans and dance. She said “having experience the Summer School for the last three years, I can honestly say that it’s one of the most joyous environments I’ve ever experienced”.

Joe from Haberdashers’ Abraham Darby chose Age UK Telford and Wrekin because of the vital work it does supporting older people in the local community, helping to reduce loneliness, provide advice, and improve quality of life in and around Telford.

Sophie from Habs Girls chose Camp Simcha, a Jewish charity that provides practical, emotional and therapeutic support services to families whose children have life threatening childhood illnesses, both in, and out of the Jewish community.

All of these young people have made an exceptional contribution to their school and wider communities. The Company is very proud of each one of them.

Thanks to Lewis Hooper, member of the Freedom, for spending time with them as they chose their charities.
