The Haberdashers’ Foundation has received an extremely generous unrestricted legacy gift from the late Michael and Rosemary Gregory, recognising their longstanding affection for the Haberdashers’ Company and its charitable work.
Michael Gregory was himself a proud member of the Company during his lifetime, and together with his wife Rosemary was a familiar and much-valued presence within the Haberdashers’ community. Their gift, left in Michael’s will, reflects both their deep personal connection to the Company and their belief in the impact of its work.
In recognition of their generosity, Michael and Rosemary Gregory’s names will be added to the Benefactors’ Board in the entrance of Haberdashers’ Hall.
Their son, Julian Gregory (Assistant), spoke warmly of his parents’ commitment to the organisation and its Purpose:
“Dad was a proud member of the Company, often accompanied by my mother. They made many friends in the Company and were strong supporters of the work being done to improve the life chances of young people.
They understood that giving to the Company meant the money would be spent directly on initiatives that help tomorrow’s generation, rather than on other fundraising activity. They believed it would have a real and lasting impact.”

Following speeches, students had opportunity to practice and apply their leadership skills through three workshops:
This was an incredibly generous gift of £200,000. The unrestricted nature of the gift will allow the Haberdashers’ Foundation to direct funding where it is most needed, helping to support educational opportunities and life-changing initiatives for young people, such as the Habs Aspire mentoring programme for all Haberdasher sixth formers.
The Haberdashers’ Company is deeply grateful for Michael and Rosemary Gregory’s generosity and foresight, and for the enduring legacy they have created through their support.
Not all legacy gifts have to be so significant. But every future gift – small or large – will be gratefully received by the Company and help us do more for the young people in our schools.
