Haberdashers have given something back to their wider community for the past 700 years. We hope you might join that history and give back something that will help build futures we will never see.
Any time you sit in the Livery Hall, you are watched over by some of the giants of Haberdasher history: those who actively shaped and protected the Company through their acts of service and generosity.
We are not so different today. Each member steps into a role that encompasses giving back to, and giving to, the Company.
The men and women who shaped this Company did not simply respond to the needs of their own time; they built for futures they would never see. That instinct is, perhaps, the most distinctively Haberdasher thing about us.
Today, that same instinct is needed more urgently than ever. Young people across all Haberdasher schools are navigating a world of great complexity: economic uncertainty, rapid technological change, and widening inequality that can make the distance between aspiration and opportunity feel insurmountable.
Talent and ambition are not the preserve of the privileged few, but the structures that nurture them often are. That is the gap we are seeking to address through Haberdashers’ Advantage, both within education and philanthropy.
We are already doing a great deal: almost 270 members give regularly to the Haberdashers’ Foundation, collectively donating over £100,000 each year. We are extremely grateful for each of these contributions. Grants from the Foundation support the Habs Aspire mentoring programme and, in recent years, have funded the ADAPT programme at Haberdashers’ Abraham Darby.
The next step is to consider a future gift: a gift in your will that represents an investment in the future of the young people in that ecosystem.
NEXT STEPS
Legacy planning is, of course, deeply personal. Family circumstances, existing commitments and long-held charitable loyalties all rightly shape those decisions. We make no presumption about where your priorities lie.
What we do ask is that you give the Haberdashers’ Foundation serious consideration as part of your philanthropic legacy—not out of obligation, but because the values that drew you to this Company are precisely the values a bequest would sustain.
Haberdashers have given something back to their wider community for the past 700 years. We hope you might join that history and give back in a way that helps build futures we will never see.
