Two Haberdashers share their memories of getting married at Haberdashers’ Hall.
We spoke to two Haberdashers, Catherine Sykes and Natasha Isaac, about what was behind their personal decisions to hold their wedding celebrations at Haberdashers’ Hall.
What made you decide to pick the Hall as your venue?
I have spent most of my life living in London and was keen to have a wedding that reflected that connection to this historic city. – Catherine
Both Sam and I went to Haberdasher schools, and I am a member of the Company so knew the building well. – Natasha
Which local venue did you partner with for the ceremony, or did you do everything at the Hall?
We wanted to have our ceremony itself in a synagogue and were lucky to use Bevis Marks, the oldest synagogue in continuous use in the UK. We even hired Hearns coaches to transport our guests back to the Hall and brought all the flowers back too! – Natasha
I first visited St Bartholomew the Great whilst attending the wedding of a friend. I remember being blown away by the beauty of that 900-year-old church, and the spirituality of the service. I was thrilled to connect the dots when it came time to plan my own wedding. It’s only a short walk across the square from the church for the ceremony the Hall for the reception. – Catherine
Did you use our in-house caterers, Graysons, for the food?
Graysons were great to work with! The pre-wedding food tasting was a highlight in the lead up to the day itself. Service was flawless on the day. It was all very professionally done. – Catherine
We were restricted to using kosher catered so we hired out the kitchen for the day. – Natasha
Where and what was the most special moment of your day?
Our wedding took place during a heatwave, and it was gorgeous to enjoy that space between our ceremony and the evening activities… I remember explaining to the Company to our guests through the fountain! – Natasha
The best moment of the whole wedding was the dancing at the end of the night in the Livery Hall. The DJ set up a booth at the far end and the dance floor was in front of that. It was fun to see everyone really letting go! – Catherine
Would you recommend the Hall to others for their special day?
Without hesitation. The layout of the Hall worked well, with lots of different spaces that your guests can move through. – Catherine
Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how special the day was. I’m so proud to be a Haberdasher and being able to show my family and friends the Hall was a particularly special part of my wedding. – Natasha
