Flexing my facilitation muscles with Parent Skills 2 GO

Going beyond financial support

In March, Shaninga Marasha, member of the Freedom and CEO Founder of BIGKID Foundation, volunteered his time and expertise to support one of our charity partners.

On Friday 21 March, I had the absolute pleasure of facilitating the strategic away day for Parent Skills 2 Go at Haberdashers” Hall — and what a refreshing experience it was to be on the other side of the day!

As someone who is often deep in the trenches delivering and driving strategy for my own organisation, stepping into the role of facilitator for another team was not only energising — it reminded me just how much I enjoy creating the space for others to think big, challenge assumptions, and find clarity in their vision.

The ParentSkills2Go team came ready to engage, open to the process, and fully committed to sharpening their direction and impact. Their passion for empowering parents and carers with the skills and confidence to thrive really shone through the entire session. I was honoured to help guide that journey.

A huge thank you to Haberdashers’ Hall for hosting us in such a stunning and professional space. The setting made a big difference — and the lunch? Incredible!

To the Parent Skills 2 Go team —thank you for trusting me with your day. I thoroughly enjoyed facilitating the conversation, asking the challenging questions, and helping you dig into what’s next. It was a privilege.

There’s something powerful about taking a step back, changing perspectives, and simply holding space for others to grow. I look forward to doing more of it.
