7th Battalion The Rifles (7 RIFLES) is a Light Role Infantry Battalion in the Army Reserve. The Battalion Headquarters is based in London, and the rifle companies are based across the South East of England. The affiliation with the Haberdashers’ Company originated with the Queen Victoria Rifles (QVR) in 1936. This was borne of the fact that the QVR were based in Davies Street, London W1, and drew many of their recruits from the haberdashery shops on the nearby Oxford Street.
Today, the affiliation is celebrated with an annual cricket match between the Company and 7 RIFLES, played at Burton Court near the Royal Hospital Chelsea.
